Contract | 12-Hour Day Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit, including general and orthopedic trauma stepdown patients, at a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Monitor and manage patients with chest tubes, drains, wound vacs, and peritoneal dialysis; titrate Amiodarone and Cardizem as directed
- Read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips using GE telemetry monitors with support from a central monitoring station technician
- Manage CPAP and potential ventilator support; collaborate with Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
- Utilize 1:1 PCT sitters for confused patients and soft restraints per protocol; communicate via Spectralink phones with integrated call light system
- Float as needed to Medical-Surgical Telemetry units within the facility
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RN experience (experience must be within the past 6 months)
- Must be able to read cardiac rhythm strips
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (maximum of 2 attempts, within 48 hours of offer)
- Must pass a Simulation Lab assessment on day one of orientation (study guides provided)
- Availability to work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period and one major and one minor holiday
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for orthopedic trauma or stepdown patients, including chest tube and wound vac management
- Familiarity with GE telemetry monitoring systems
- Experience with peritoneal dialysis patients in a floor setting
- Prior experience in a COVID-designated or infectious disease unit
