Job Title
Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry Float Pool
Float between multiple Med/Surg and Telemetry units as assigned by the clinical coordinator prior to each shift, with a primary parent unit designation
Provide direct patient care for a variety of diagnoses including CHF, chest pain, pneumonia, COPD, chronic renal disease, cardiac catheterization, orthopedic, and oncology patients
Read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips independently; Phillips monitoring system is utilized across most units
Manage patient assignments of approximately 1:5–6 ratio, depending on patient acuity
Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapy, and monitor techs to deliver safe, coordinated care
Adhere to weekend rotation (every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday) and participate in the holiday rotation schedule alongside permanent staff
Must successfully pass a facility cardiac rhythm exam prior to assignment
Minimum of one year of Med/Surg and/or Telemetry nursing experience
Ability to read and independently interpret cardiac telemetry strips
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior experience in a float pool or multi-unit environment
Familiarity with Phillips telemetry monitoring systems
Experience caring for oncology, orthopedic, or cardiac catheterization patient populations
