Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Medical-Surgical / Telemetry (Orthopedic Trauma) – Wisconsin
Start Date: October 12, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Schedule: Evening/Night shift, 12-hour shifts (1900-0730), weekend rotation (1 in 3) and holidays as needed. Four 12-hour shifts per week available for qualified candidates. 4:1 patient ratio. 36 hours of orientation provided.
Highlights:
- Primary patient population is Orthopedic Trauma with Neurosurgery overflow
- 27-bed unit at a Magnet-designated, nationally recognized teaching and referral center
- Epic charting system with telemetry monitoring on the unit
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and phlebotomy
- Advanced skills utilization including peripheral nerve catheters, epidurals, PCAs, heparin and insulin drips
- Travel assignment with floating required as needed to support patient care
Requirements:
- Current Wisconsin RN license (or compact state eligibility)
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience within the last 3 years
- BLS certification (American Heart Association only) required
- Epic charting experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Must pass telemetry competency exam prior to start with strict passing criteria (80% minimum, 100% accuracy on lethal rhythms)
- Proficiency in telemetry interpretation, IV therapy, central line management, wound care, blood product administration, and isolation precautions
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and feeding tube management
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this travel position
