Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Hours: 36 hours/week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Unit: Med Surg MT5 Oncology
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Med Surg Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join the MT5 Oncology unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong medical-surgical and telemetry background, excellent clinical judgment, and experience caring for oncology patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical and oncology patients.
- Monitor and assess patients throughout the shift, recognizing changes in condition and escalating concerns appropriately.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
- Monitor telemetry and respond appropriately to changes in cardiac rhythm.
- Provide patient education regarding treatment plans, medications, and care needs.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the multidisciplinary care team.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Follow all hospital policies, safety standards, and infection-control procedures.
- Support patients receiving oncology-related treatments and therapies.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- BLS certification required.
- ACLS certification required.
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Certificate required.
- Medical-surgical and telemetry nursing experience.
- Strong assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and every other weekend.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous chemotherapy administration experience highly preferred, but not required.
- Previous oncology nursing experience.
- Travel nursing experience in a medical-surgical/oncology setting.
