Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Med Surg (Medical Surgical) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent hospital acute experience License: Current RN license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Epic experience within the last year Description: Nurses are required to have telemetry experience. Acute care inpatient experience is essential. Post-operative care for cardiac procedures such as CABG is common within the unit. Nurses will care for patients with chest pain, new onset of atrial fibrillation, and other cardiac abnormalities. Patients may also present with chronic illnesses such as heart failure, renal failure, and COPD. It is crucial for nurses to be able to titrate drips, including Heparin and Amiodarone/Cardizem at fixed rates. Charge nurses typically do not take patient assignments but may assist as needed. Aides are present on the unit, with ratios dependent on patient census. Most of the patients are on telemetry monitoring. Nurses must be able to read and interpret their own telemetry strips. Self-scheduling is allowed, but initial schedules will be determined by management. A minimum of 6 weekend shifts (either Saturday or Sunday) is required within a 6-week period. Travelers may work holidays based on unit needs, with no guaranteed time off for holidays. All nurses must clock in and out at the facility.
