Patients may be waiting for an inpatient bed and could present with various medical and surgical adult diagnoses. Travelers may care for PCU-level patients. Travelers are expected to handle MS/Tele cases and float to different areas as needed. The unit has a target patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6 for MS/Tele cases and 1:4 for PCU level patients. Every other weekend shift is required. The unit functions in a fast-paced environment with high acuity patients. Contract staff may be required to work during catastrophic events or disasters. Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting this specialty. The facility uses standard medical equipment, including cardiac monitors and IV pumps. All candidates will be interviewed due to a high turnover rate in the unit.
