Registered Nurse (RN) - MS/Tele Float

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse specializing in MS/Tele to join our Float Pool in the Emergency Department Holding Unit. This position involves working with adult patients in need of inpatient care, including those at the PCU level, while providing comprehensive nursing services across various units as necessary.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor patients with medical/surgical diagnoses in the Emergency Department holding area.
  • Provide care for MS/Tele patients and float to Emergency Department and MedSurg areas as required.
  • Ensure effective telemetry monitoring, including remote and unit-based monitoring.
  • Administer medications and manage blood products, IVs, and various lines as needed.
  • Implement isolation precautions and perform oral and nasal suctioning as appropriate.
  • Utilize Rapid Response Teams and manage emergencies as they arise.

Required Skills and Certifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Traveler experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in interpreting and managing dysrhythmias.
  • Experience with patient care including colostomy and feeding tube management, renal failure, and blood product administration.
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

  • NIHSS certification.
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and hemodialysis management.
  • Skills in accessing ports and performing central line blood draws.
  • Knowledge of CVA, neuro surgery pre/post care, spinal cord injuries, and wound management.

Job Details

  • Target patient-to-nurse ratios: 1:6 for MS/Tele or 1:4 for PCU level patients.
  • Shifts available: Nights, 36 or 48 hours per week.
  • Maximum Request Time Off (RTO): 7 days.
  • Weekend work required every other weekend.

Additional Information

Contract staff may be included in a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report for duty during a catastrophic event or mass casualty incident. The orientation period for this position is 12 hours.

All candidates will undergo EKG testing prior to starting. This is a mixed unit setting with a high acuity patient population.

Uniform Requirement

Navy scrubs are required for this position.
