Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM; 36 or 48-hour weekly contracts available; contract lengths of 13-26 weeks; every other weekend required; floating as needed

Highlights:

  • Patient ratio of 1:5-6 providing direct care to medical/surgical and telemetry patients
  • 24 hours of unit orientation with hospital orientation classes during first week
  • Epic charting system with Pyxis medication dispensing and SBAR communication
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
  • Clinical skills include blood product administration, heparin and insulin drip management, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, wound care, PCA pumps, and non-invasive airway management
  • Isolation protocols in place for specialized patient populations with multi-level care capabilities

Requirements:

  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in medical/surgical or telemetry nursing
  • North Carolina or Compact state nursing license (pending acceptable at submission)
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • First-time travelers welcome
  • Must successfully complete EKG competency testing prior to start date
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Experience with patient ratios of 1:6, Epic charting preferred
  • Proficiency in heparin protocols, IV insulin drips, dysrhythmia management, isolation precautions, peripheral line care, and wound management

  • Contract staff may be assigned to storm/hurricane teams and expected to report during catastrophic events or disasters
  • Floating within the facility may be required based on patient census and staffing needs
