Patient Population & Clinical Experience:
This combination acuity unit serves adult patients with a wide range of diagnoses including cellulitis, appendicitis, cholecystitis, diverticulitis, motor vehicle accidents, trauma (gunshots, stabbings, falls), various cancers, kidney stones, bowel obstructions, peripheral vascular disease, limb ischemia, hernias, and gangrene. Nurses care for patients undergoing surgical procedures such as cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, TURP, ostomy creation or closure, wound debridement, tumor removal, kidney stone removal, amputations, and fem-pop bypass.
Equipment & Skills:
Candidates should have experience with wound vacs, chest tubes, NG tubes/Corpak, JP drains, Hemovac drains, Penrose drains, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care, feeding tubes, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions, PCA pumps, PICC line management, IV starts and maintenance, and surgical drain management.
