Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with a focus on Medical-Surgical and Telemetry care to join our dynamic team. This position will involve caring for patients undergoing surgical procedures, including but not limited to colorectal, general surgery, hepatobiliary, and orthopedic/spine surgeries.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care to a diverse population.
• Utilize telemetry equipment to monitor patient vitals and respond promptly to changes in condition.
• Perform IV starts and maintain accurate patient records.
• Engage in effective communication with the healthcare team using SBAR principles.
• Participate in self-scheduling based on unit needs and nursing management input.
• Occasional floating to other units may be required.
• Commit to working every other weekend as needed.

Schedule

This position offers 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15. A 36 or 48-hour work week is available, with overtime applicable only after 48 hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
• Travel experience is acceptable; first-time travelers will be considered.
• Must possess current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• EKG competency testing is required prior to start.
• Ability to maintain flexible scheduling based on unit demands.
• Candidates must provide their own navy blue or white scrubs.

Orientation

A comprehensive 36-hour orientation program will be provided to familiarize staff with unit protocols and systems, including Pyxis and EPIC.

Target Patient Ratios

The target nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6 to ensure optimal patient care and support.

Additional Notes

Requests for block scheduling will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the unit manager.
