License: VA license pending accepted. Certifications: BLS and ACLS preferred, not required. Must-Have: - Epic experience required. Description: This position is for a clinical role in an inpatient surgical and trauma unit. The unit has 26 beds and treats a diverse patient population. The patient population consists primarily of post-surgical patients, mainly from general surgery and trauma cases. Ninety percent of the patients are post-surgical, while the remaining ten percent have medical diagnoses. All patient rooms are equipped for cardiac monitoring, capnography, and continuous pulse oximetry. The scheduled work consists of every other weekend and every other holiday. Staff members must work two out of the three winter holidays. Staffing includes support from a clinical nurse specialist, an assistant nurse manager, and administrative personnel. The nurse-to-patient ratio is generally 1:4, occasionally 1:5. Emergency response protocols are in place with designated rapid response teams. The unit has a wound care team available seven days a week for ostomy and wound vac needs. Nurses may be required to float to other acute care units as necessary. Travelers are expected to follow all facility policies related to patient care and safety.
