Description:
This position is for a registered nurse in an inpatient surgical and trauma unit.
The unit consists of 26 beds and serves a diverse patient population.
Patients primarily include post-surgical and trauma patients, with 90% post-surgical and 10% medical diagnoses.
All patient rooms are equipped for cardiac monitoring, capnography, and continuous pulse oximetry.
This role involves night shifts with a patient ratio of 1:4, occasionally 1:5.
There is an expectation to work every other weekend and holiday.
The unit is supported by various interdisciplinary teams, including IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services.
The registered nurse will be responsible for administering medications, managing patient care, and collaborating with healthcare teams.
Experience in trauma-level care is preferred.
Candidates should have skills in BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, chest tube management, and more.
This role requires adherence to floating policies and potential floating to other acute care units as needed.
Wound care team support is available seven days a week for wound vac and ostomy needs.
The candidate must be able to effectively manage dysrhythmias and interpret cardiac rhythms.
Willingness to participate in rapid response and code teams is necessary.
