Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Must have a current nursing license (pending licenses accepted) Certifications: BLS and ACLS preferred, not required Must-Have: Epic experience required Description: The position is for a nurse in an acute care unit with a diverse patient population. This unit primarily serves post-surgical and trauma patients. Patients with surgical conditions make up 90% of the unit, while 10% have medical diagnoses. All patient rooms are equipped for cardiac monitoring and capnography. Continuous pulse oximetry is also available for all patients. Scheduling will be for 36 or 48 hours per week. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed. The nurse is required to work every other weekend and every other holiday. They must work 2 out of the 3 winter holidays. Approval for time off of up to 40 hours can be granted. Adherence to float policies is mandatory. Epic experience is a requirement. No additional time off beyond the approved 40 hours will be accepted after offer acceptance. The expected patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 4:1, occasionally 5:1. Interdisciplinary support includes multiple healthcare professionals and services. The unit is staffed with a combination of registered nurses and support staff. Special equipment facilitates advanced patient monitoring and care. Wound care and ostomy needs are managed through an inpatient team. The work environment fosters collaboration with various health specialists. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of surgical and trauma patient care.
