Patient diagnoses include respiratory illnesses, renal illnesses, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell, and cystic fibrosis. The position is for night shifts. Candidates can work either 36 or 48 hours per week. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed. Work is required every other weekend. Candidates must work 2 out of the 3 winter holidays. Time off around Christmas will not be approved. Only 40 hours of time off can be accommodated. Floating within scope of practice is required as needed. Travelers will float before permanent staff. Candidates should have experience with chest tubes, heparin protocols, interpretation of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions, IV insulin protocols, management of dysrhythmias, PCA, telemetry, titration of insulin drips, tracheostomy care, and wound care. Support in the unit includes IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Transportation. Lifting equipment, HOVER mats, chest tubes, PCA pumps, bladder scanners, and wound vacs will be used in the unit. Education: BSN preferred.
