Job Opportunity – Medical Cardiopulmonary RN – South Dakota
Start Date: October 19, 2026
Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts, rotating every other weekend and every other holiday. Night shift assignment with 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio.
Highlights:
- Work in a 30-bed Medical Cardiopulmonary Unit and 8-bed Intermediate/Progressive Care Unit at a Magnet-designated facility
- Manage diverse patient populations with diagnoses including pneumonia, COPD, CHF, pulmonary embolism, and complex pulmonary cases requiring mechanical ventilation
- Gain critical care experience with oxygen therapy, IV medications and drips, chest tubes, tracheostomies, non-invasive and mechanical ventilation, and cardiac monitoring
- Utilize Epic charting system, Alaris pumps, and Omnicell medication systems
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapists, pharmacists, case managers, and specialty providers
- Three-day comprehensive orientation program with competency validation and preceptor support
Requirements:
- Active or compact RN license for South Dakota (willing to wait for licensure)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association) required
- Medical-surgical and IMC/progressive care nursing experience strongly preferred
- Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow oxygen, moderate sedation, cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone), Heparin drips, telemetry monitoring
- Skills in chest tube management, blood administration, ABG interpretation, central line care, and post-procedural care
- BSN and specialty certification preferred
- Must not have worked for this health system within the past 6 months
