Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The RN will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, while ensuring the safety and well-being of patients in both inpatient and observation settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care, assess patient needs, and develop care plans.
• Monitor and record patient vital signs and symptoms, and report any changes to the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and therapies as ordered by the physician.
• Perform various medical procedures such as cardiovascular monitoring, thoracentesis, and central line insertion.
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families.
• Float within the scope of practice if required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in specialty.
• BLS/BCLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Working proficiency in administering drips such as heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, and nitroglycerin.
• Experience with post-cardiac catheterization and angiogram protocols required.

Scheduling Information

• Shift: Nights, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7PM - 7AM).
• Weekend commitment: Every other weekend required.
• Orientation held every other week on Thursday.
• 100-mile radius rule applies for travel assignments.

Additional Information

• Patient population includes adult and geriatric patients with a variety of cardiac conditions.
• The unit consists of 39 beds, providing care for acute MI, unstable angina, congestive heart failure, CVA surgical patients, and high turnaround observation cases.
• The ratios typically are 1:5, with potential increases to 6 or 7 patients during peak times.
• Staff parking is free for all personnel.
