Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend required. Contract length: 13-20 weeks.
Highlights:
- Specialized neuroscience unit caring primarily for stroke patients, epilepsy, traumatic brain injuries, and neurosurgical cases
- Patient ratio of 1:6 with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams
- Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management
- 36-hour orientation period with potential to cross-train in specialized areas
- Daily census of approximately 50 patients in a 55-bed unit
- Floating required to other medical-surgical/telemetry areas as needed
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year of direct Medical-Surgical experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required (must have completed at least 2 successful travel contracts)
- Active NC or Compact state nursing license
- BLS, NIH, and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with neuroscience patient populations including stroke, seizure disorders, and traumatic brain injuries
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Ability to complete 8-10 hours of pre-start modules using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
