Job Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Telemetry RN – North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week. Patient ratio typically 1:5-6. Weekend requirement of 12-16 shifts per contract. Contract lengths of 13-20 weeks accepted.

Requirements
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Strong skills in Med/Surg and telemetry including remote monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, wound care/wound vac, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions
- Experience with central line blood draws, PICC line management, IV starts, heparin protocols, PCA pumps, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
- Competency in colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis management, and phlebotomy
- Open to floating within facility as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic charting system experience
- Telemetry on-unit monitoring experience
- Skills in accessing ports, CVA care, surgical drain management, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management
- Previous charge experience preferred
Patient Population
Typical diagnoses include dementia, diabetes, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, and other standard medical/surgical conditions. Unit census averages 41 patients with multi-level care capabilities.

Additional Information
Contract staff will be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters. Floating to other units within the facility is required based on staffing needs. Pre-start online modules (approximately 8-10 hours) must be completed before orientation. All compliance testing must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing.
