Job Description
This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical Surgical and Telemetry care. The RN will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Shift and Scheduling
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekends: Every other weekend required
- Holidays: Every other holiday required
- Shifts: 0700-1930, 1100-2330, 2300-0700
- No self-scheduling; block scheduling based on staffing needs
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Telemetry
- Number of Beds: 15
- Nurse to Patient Ratios:
- Day shift: 1:4-5
- Night shift: 1:5-6
- Common Diagnoses & Patient Types:
- Post-Surgical (Orthopedic, Urology, GYN/ONC, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, ENT, Plastics, GI)
- Acute Medical patients with short anticipated length of stay
- Equipment: CPAP, BIPAP, High Flow Oxygen Therapy (No vents available)
- Respiratory Therapy support is present
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, ensuring adherence to clinical guidelines and standards
- Monitor and manage patient vitals and titrate medications, including Heparin, Nitro, Cardizem, and Insulin
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans
- Engage in patient and family education regarding care and treatment
- Maintain a clean and professional work environment, adhering to established protocols
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience required
- Current BLS certification (AHA) required
- Capability to read telemetry strips; Telemetry Technicians available for support
- Must be able to float to other adult medical/surgical nursing units as needed
Orientation and Training
- Unit-specific orientation includes 1 day of computer training and 1-2 days of precepted floor orientation based on skills
Additional Information
- Nursing Assistants present to support nursing staff during specified hours
- Charge Nurse takes assignment on all shifts; House Supervisor present on all shifts
- Dress Code: Any color scrubs that are clean and professional
