Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg - Orthopedic

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Med Surg Orthopedic unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients in the orthopedic unit, specializing in joint replacement and trauma care. This role requires a strong understanding of medical surgical nursing and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Shift Information

• Shift Type: Day/Night Rotate
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
• Work Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday required

General Responsibilities

• Caring for patients in the Orthopedic unit/Joint Replacement Center.
• Administering medications and monitoring patient conditions.
• Preparing patients for surgical procedures and administering blood products.
• Providing education and support to patients and families.
• Collaborating with Certified Nursing Assistants (C.N.A.s) to deliver comprehensive patient care.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical surgical nursing; orthopedic experience is a bonus.
• Current RN license required.
• BLS Certification required.
• Familiarity with EPIC charting preferred.

Patient Care and Unit Information

The orthopedic unit is an Advanced Certified Total Joint Replacement Center, focusing on achieving specific quality metrics and standards for patient care. The unit has a total of 22 beds and maintains a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1 or 5:1, ensuring adequate attention and support for each patient.

Training and Orientation

New hires will receive thorough orientation and training in the unit, typically lasting between 6 to 12 hours to ensure a smooth transition into the team.

Dress Code

The dress code for this position includes navy blue scrubs, with the option to wear a navy jacket if desired.

Additional Information

Applicants must be willing to work rotating shifts and may be required to float to other med-surg units as needed. This position does not require on-call duty.
