Description:
Our unit specializes in caring for patients with liver, kidney, and pancreatic diseases.
We serve recipients of liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants.
In addition, we routinely care for patients with complex gastrointestinal disorders.
The unit also functions as a medical-surgical/telemetry overflow unit.
Registered Nurses in this position will be expected to float to other units as needed.
Every other weekend coverage is required.
The typical patient ratio during the day shift may vary.
Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy.
Patient diagnoses primarily include diseases and disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, kidney, and pancreas.
The unit involves special procedures, including abdominal organ transplants and advanced surgeries.
Nurses are expected to have skills such as interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and peripheral line care.
Isolation precautions and feeding tube care and management are also part of the job responsibilities.
