First Connect Health is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Bakersfield, California.

RN – Med Surg/Tele | Bakersfield, CA

Start Date: 10/26/2026
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Days | 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
Hours: 36 hours/week
Shift Length: 12 hours
Unit: Med Surg/Telemetry
EMR: Cerner

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of RN experience
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
  • Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms
  • Med Surg and Telemetry experience
  • Recent Cerner experience preferred

Unit Details:

  • 39-bed mixed Med Surg/Telemetry unit
  • Telemetry ratio approximately 1:4
  • Med Surg ratio approximately 1:5
  • Mixed assignments may include both Med Surg and Tele patients
  • Fast-paced environment with frequent admissions and discharges
  • Common patients include medical/surgical, bariatric, total joint, stroke and non-titratable drip patients
  • Experience with Cardizem, Amiodarone and Heparin drips preferred

Additional Details:

  • Every other weekend / 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
  • Holiday rotation required
  • Travelers are first to float
  • May float between Med Surg/Telemetry units and other areas for Med Surg/Tele holds
  • No block scheduling guarantee
  • Navy blue scrubs
  • Orientation typically 1–2 shifts, up to 3 depending on experience
  • Cerner experience may reduce orientation time
  • Strict attendance expectations
