Med Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Med Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in acute care and experience with complex patients, demonstrating comfort in managing a variety of medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide quality patient care to individuals with oncology/hematology, general medical conditions, and other complex diagnoses.
• Titrate medication drips including insulin, heparin, cardizem, nitro, amiodarone, octreotide, and manage blood transfusions as needed.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Utilize Cerner for charting and documentation as required.
• Participate in unit orientation and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Work effectively within nurse-patient ratios to deliver comprehensive care.
• Act as a tele-aware RN, although centralized telemetry technicians will monitor and interpret strips.
• Be prepared to float within Med Surg units as necessary.

Shift Details

• 12-hour night shifts, from 1900 to 0730.
• Every other weekend and holiday commitment required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of acute care experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Comfort and experience with drips and managing complex patient needs are essential.
• Prior travel nurse experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Nurse Aide Support

The unit is supported by nurse aides, with ratios of 1:7-9 during the day/evening shifts and 1:14 overnight.

Orientation and Training

Orientation consists of one day of computer and regulatory training, followed by one 12-hour shift on the floor.
