Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities.
This includes the prevention of illness and injury and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response.
The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development.
Responsibilities include assessing, planning, delegating, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
The RN serves as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse based on unit assignment and safety considerations.
Educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
Utilizes knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to policy.
Shares responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization including staffing, time management, and supplies.
Complies with all nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model.
Engages in professional development and completes all mandatory education requirements.
Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.
Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
