Job Description
The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing interventions. This role entails ensuring care adheres to established protocols and procedures, while always respecting patient dignity and individuality.
Essential Functions
- Conduct thorough assessments and reassessments, developing and implementing nursing care plans aligned with patient goals.
- Deliver patient care according to established standards of practice, protocols, and policies.
- Educate patients and their families based on assessed learning needs, readiness to learn, and any barriers to learning.
- Collaborate in discharge planning, ensuring necessary support systems and resources are in place.
- Delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by team members appropriately.
- Prioritize patient care effectively, seeking assistance and reassigning personnel as necessary.
- Document all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly.
- Provide timely reports to healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.
- Promote a culture of learning for colleagues and self by functioning as a preceptor and participating in professional development.
- Identify and mitigate risks to patient safety, as well as opportunities to reduce medical errors.
- Address and develop care plans for any ethical issues that may arise.
- Administer medications and IV therapy safely per physician's orders and protocols.
- Assess and document patient pain levels, ensuring effective pain management strategies are employed.
- Utilize pain management devices and techniques appropriately, monitoring patient responses.
- Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment related to surgical patients.
- Recognize normal and abnormal progress patterns in patients, alerting physicians of any concerns in a timely manner.
Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to exert from 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or from 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible to up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequent reaching, handling, and feeling (perceiving attributes of items using fingertips) is necessary. Occasional stooping and kneeling may also be required.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- 1 year of Med/Surg experience preferred.
- 1 year of Telemetry experience preferred.
- 1 year of Pediatrics experience preferred.
- Current RN license in the state of practice (Massachusetts).
- ACLS certification upon hire, or must obtain ACLS certification within 60 days of hire if holding a current BLS card.
- PALS certification preferred.

Shift Information
This position requires a commitment to a 40-hour work week, typically working evenings from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with every other weekend and holiday coverage.
