Job Overview
We are seeking experienced Travel Med Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurses (RN) to provide high-quality care to adult patients in a fast-paced hospital environment. The Med Surg/Tele RN provides comprehensive nursing care while monitoring patients with cardiac and other medical conditions requiring telemetry observation.
Responsibilities
Assess patients and develop individualized nursing care plans.
Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation, and changes in patient condition.
Care for patients with a variety of medical and surgical diagnoses.
Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and treatments as ordered.
Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms and promptly report abnormal findings.
Perform head-to-toe assessments and reassess patients throughout the shift.
Manage IV lines, central lines, drains, wound care, and other clinical equipment as appropriate.
Recognize signs of patient deterioration and respond appropriately.
Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatments, and discharge instructions.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Follow infection-control, patient-safety, and hospital policies.
Provide safe patient handoffs during transfers and shift changes.
Common Patient Population
Travel Med Surg/Tele RNs may care for patients with conditions such as:
Cardiac conditions and dysrhythmias
Chest pain
Hypertension
Diabetes
Respiratory conditions
Infections and sepsis
Post-operative patients
GI and renal conditions
Neurological conditions
Patients requiring telemetry monitoring
Requirements
Active RN license in the state of assignment.
Recent Med Surg and/or Telemetry experience.
BLS certification required.
ACLS certification may be required depending on facility.
Strong assessment, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to manage multiple patients in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Previous travel nursing experience preferred, but first-time travelers may be considered depending on the facility.
