Schedule: 12-hour shifts with day/night rotation availability; shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs; 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
Highlights:
- Specialized 36-bed medical-surgical oncology unit serving adult and geriatric populations
- Diverse case mix including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, plus sickle cell crises management
- Epic EMR system with GE telemetry monitoring, Alaris pumps, and modern equipment
- Strong interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, rapid response teams, and social services
- 72-hour comprehensive orientation program with focus on infection prevention and patient safety protocols
- Oncology experience preferred but not required; robust training and support provided
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience (current and within the last 12 months)
- Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of application)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Epic charting system experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role)
Clinical Skills:
- Interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
- Accessing and managing ports, PICC lines, and central lines
- IV insertion and maintenance
- Blood product administration and chemotherapy administration
- Arterial line management
- High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management
- Chest tube insertion/removal assistance
- Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- BiPAP/CPAP and tracheostomy care
- PCA and insulin drip titration
Patient Care Focus:
- Continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration
- Soft tissue malignancy management including diagnostic services and symptom control
- Management of comorbidities and disease progression symptoms
- Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
