Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 48 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have 2 years of MS-Tele experience. Prior neuro experience preferred. Description: Nurses are hired into a float pool and are expected to float throughout the designated zone. The float pool covers a specific geographical area. Travelers are responsible for arranging housing to accommodate floating requirements. Nurses must be present for a week of orientation even if some modules are completed remotely. Travelers cannot miss more than three shifts during their contract period. A two-week notice is required to avoid penalties for backing out of the contract. Nurses may be assigned to multiple units ranging from general MS-Tele to various specialties including cardiac, neuro, oncology, rehab, renal, bariatrics, ortho, trauma, and ED observation. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6 based on acuity. Nurses may be required to administer titratable drips including heparin. Charge nurses do not generally take a patient assignment unless necessary. Designated charge nurses are available on each unit. There are nursing assistants present to assist with patient care. Respiratory equipment is available on the unit. Shifts are typically scheduled from 7 PM to 7 AM. The schedule is organized by leadership and covers six weeks, with flexibility expected from travelers. All time-off requests should be submitted prior to starting the assignment. Travelers are expected to fulfill weekend requirements of six to nine shifts in a six-week schedule. Participation in holiday rotation may be requested. Call or standby requirements are rare, occurring only during low census periods. Assignments may vary based on manpower needs, including floating into other acuity levels. Dress code allows for any color scrubs. Orientation involves one to two days with a preceptor. Travelers will receive a float assignment outlining their work location for each schedule. Schedulers may utilize Just-In-Time (JIT) assignments with notifications sent out shortly before shifts begin. Cancellations may occur, with hospitals permitted to cancel a limited number of shifts during assignments. Charting is performed using an electronic medical record system. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is not required for submission. This role exists within an acute care setting. Shifts are primarily during nights, with specific weekend commitments required.
