Job Opportunity – Medical-Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, rotating days/nights or nights only based on departmental needs; shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period; 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio; 36-bed unit with 72-hour orientation

Highlights:

  • Medical-surgical oncology unit specializing in continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration, soft tissue malignancies, and symptom management
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required; minimum 2 years RN experience required
  • Epic EMR system; previous travel experience preferred
  • Strong focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
  • Common patient diagnoses include breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, sickle cell crises, and chemotherapy management
  • Equipment includes GE telemetry monitoring system, Alaris pumps, bladder scanners, and Stryker beds

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience (current within last 12 months)
  • Valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Skills: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, accessing and managing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, IV starts, chest tube assistance, high-flow nasal cannula, interpretation of ABGs, chemotherapy administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, PCA pumps, insulin drip titration, tracheostomy care
  • Willingness to float to other medical-surgical oncology units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
  • 2 professional references required (at least 1 from manager/director or formal leadership)
