Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse / Palliative Care – Ohio

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, day/night rotation available, or nights only; 4:1 patient ratio; 72-hour orientation; weekend coverage as needed per unit scheduling

Highlights:
  • Specialized 12-bed medical-surgical unit dedicated to palliative care for patients with serious, life-limiting illnesses
  • Focus on symptom management including uncontrolled pain, severe nausea/vomiting, fatigue, and failure to thrive for patients still under active treatment
  • Opportunity to enhance palliative care skills while floating to other high-acuity medical-surgical units
  • Epic EMR system; comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
  • Rotating shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on departmental needs
  • Patient population includes adults and geriatrics requiring patient-centered care with emphasis on comfort and dignity
Requirements:
  • Active Registered Nurse license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of application)
  • Minimum 2 years of current, acute care RN experience (must be actively working in specialty within the last 12 months)
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic pain interventions and equianalgesic dosing of opioids
  • Competency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV management, phlebotomy, isolation precautions, and oxygen administration
  • Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
  • 2 professional references required, including at least one from a manager, director, or formal supervisor
