Job Opportunity – Medical-Surgical Oncology RN – Columbus, Ohio

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (days, nights, or combination based on departmental needs); shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period; 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio; 36-bed unit; 72-hour orientation

Highlights:
  • Medical-surgical oncology unit specializing in patients receiving chemotherapy, diagnostic services, and symptom management
  • Diverse patient population including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, as well as sickle cell crises
  • Continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration and management of treatment-related complications
  • Epic EMR system required; previous travel experience preferred
  • Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention initiatives
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, rapid response teams, and social services
Requirements:
  • Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of current acute care RN experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Willingness to float to other medical-surgical oncology units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • 2 professional references required (at least 1 from manager/director or formal leadership)
Required Clinical Skills:
  • Interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Accessing and managing ports, PICC lines, and central lines
  • Arterial line management
  • Blood product administration
  • IV insertion and maintenance
  • Chemotherapy administration
  • Chest tube insertion/removal assistance
  • High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management
  • BiPAP/CPAP management
  • PCA pump management
  • Insulin drip titration
  • Tracheostomy care and management
  • Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
Equipment & Technology:
  • GE telemetry monitoring system (B450 monitors)
  • Alaris IV pumps
  • Stryker beds
  • Bladder scanners
Important Compliance Information:
  • Strict compliance deadline: Tuesday prior to start date (no exceptions)
  • Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed immediately upon contract signing
  • Candidates must be responsive and cooperative with credentialing team
  • Candidates within driving distance of Ohio must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location as soon as possible after booking
  • Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
  • Former employees eligible after 6 months away from facility
  • Current employees ineligible for travel assignments
