• Schedule Notes: Every other weekend and major holidays required; floating to other Med/Surg units may be needed

Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or compact state eligibility
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care RN experience required
• Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience required
• Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Ability to pass an EKG exam at orientation
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• EPIC electronic health record experience preferred
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and telemetry interpretation skills

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality patient care using the nursing process from assessment through evaluation
• Monitor and care for post-op, post-trauma, general surgery, and telemetry patients in an acute care hospital setting
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments according to nursing standards and hospital protocols
• Manage common Med/Surg interventions such as chest tubes, BiPAP, CPAP, trachs, and tube feeds
• Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, monitor techs, CNAs, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Educate patients and families while supporting discharge planning and care coordination
• Float to other Medical-Surgical units as needed while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and teamwork
