Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 - $2,130
• Location: Petersburg, Virginia
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (Travel RN)
• Unit: Med/Surg Telemetry
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Schedule: 36 hours per week, every other weekend and major holidays required
• Contract Length: 16 weeks
• Start Date: 09/14/2026
• Patient Population: Adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Unit Size: 30 beds
• Additional Notes: Floating to other Med/Surg Tele units may be required based on department needs

Job Requirements

• Active RN license in the state of Virginia or compact state eligibility
• Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience required
• Minimum of 1 year of travel nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• Ability to pass EKG testing at orientation
• Experience in Med/Surg Telemetry required
• CAPD experience preferred
• Experience caring for patients on BiPAP, CPAP, trachs, chest tubes, and tube feeds preferred
• Phlebotomy experience required
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work in a high-acuity, fast-moving hospital environment

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate patient care using the nursing process
• Perform comprehensive assessments and monitor patient status throughout the shift
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with clinical standards and policy
• Care for patients with telemetry needs, including those with complex medical and surgical conditions
• Support pre- and post-hemodialysis care and manage CAPD patients as needed
• Provide care for patients requiring BiPAP, CPAP, tracheostomy support, chest tubes, and tube feeding
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and families on care plans, treatments, and recovery goals
• Document care accurately and maintain high standards of patient safety
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
