Experience with adult med/surg patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses. The patient population includes geriatric patients. The unit accommodates Client patients from various facilities. There may be 0-10 DOC patients present at any given time. The unit includes a locked wing with double doors for these patients. Staff will always be accompanied by a DOC officer while assisting these patients. The nursing staff is responsible for managing conditions such as dysrhythmias and substance withdrawal. Nursing skills required include managing and starting IVs, interpreting dysrhythmias, and wound care. Travelers are required to float as needed. All travelers must pass the telemetry exam prior to starting their assignment. Strict passing criteria must be met during the telemetry testing process. Attempts to pass will be limited, and support will be provided for failed attempts. This facility is recognized as a leading hospital and health system.
