Willingness to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity.
Competency in using charting systems, specifically Epic, preferred.
Previous travel experience preferred.
Description:
Mixed acuity PCU/MS Tele unit caring for medical oncology patients.
Approximate 48 beds split between PCU and MS Tele.
Chemotherapy competence is not required for this unit.
Professional development opportunities are available, including a 2-day chemotherapy course for training.
Pediatric patients are extremely rare and typically cared for by permanent staff.
Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls.
High acuity patient population with a variety of diagnoses from solid tumors to some blood cancers.
The staffing ratio aims for 1:4-5, but may vary based on unit needs.
Weekend shifts are variable and dependent on unit demands.
Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, and social services.
Special equipment used within the unit includes telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and PCA pumps.
Not requiring prior pediatric experience as this is rarely needed.
