Shifts are from 07:00 to 19:30 and 19:00 to 07:30. Every other weekend rotation and holidays may be required. Experience in managing adult and geriatric patients with a variety of conditions is required. Nursing staff will care for patients from various facilities. Unit includes a locked wing for patients requiring security. Staff will be accompanied by security personnel when assisting these patients. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, administering medication, and providing patient education. Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms is a key function. Proficiency in IV access and management is essential. Nurses are expected to perform wound care and management of surgical drains. Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care is required. Floating to other units may be necessary based on staffing needs. Active participation in unit meetings and adherence to safety protocols is expected.
