Description:
This position requires working day and night, 12-hour shifts with an every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed.
Adult med/surg patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under the Family Medicine service will be cared for.
A geriatric population is included.
The unit takes patients from various correctional facilities, with a possibility of having 0-10 correctional patients at any given time.
The unit has a locked wing with double doors for these patients.
Staff are always accompanied by a correctional officer while assisting these patients.
Responsibilities include accessing and managing ports, central line blood draws, feeding tube care and management, heparin and insulin management, and interpretation of dysrhythmias.
Isolation precautions and the management of dysrhythmias are required.
Other skills include oxygen administration, PCA management, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, and wound care.
Travelers will be required to float as needed.
Pass/fail testing will be required, including a telemetry exam before starting.
Passing scores are necessary for both adult and pediatric exams.
