Job Title: Med/Surg Tele Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med/Surg Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Med/Surg/Tele License: Active Nursing License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: PALS certification required due to occasional pediatric admissions over 5 years old Description: Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs. Coordinate nursing care activities with other health disciplines involved in the treatment effort. Develop a written individualized care plan which includes teaching needs and discharge planning. Administer direct care when professional nursing skills and judgment are necessary. Administer medication. Practice infection control and participate in maintaining a clean and safe environment. Assume responsibility and accountability for the delivery of nursing care to all assigned patients. Communicate changes in patient condition and questions regarding patient care to Charge RN/Clinician. Develop and maintain a current written plan of care for assigned patients. Set priorities to meet patient needs. Set patient goals and priorities with the patient and/or family. Provide documented evidence in the medical record of patient/family teaching and their responses. Ensure patient education and instructions are consistent with those from the physician or designee. Communicate and work effectively with other staff and departments. Participate in unit or hospital-based quality assurance activities to contribute to the advancement of the nursing profession.
