Description:
RNs in this position must have a mandatory competency in phlebotomy as well as IV placement.
These skills are required for any RN within the unit.
Day and evening ratios are expected to be 5 to 1, stretching to 6-7.
Night ratios are expected to be 6-7 to 1, with stretches to 8-10 if staff calls in.
Patient Care Technicians are present on all units to assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living.
First-timers are accepted; experience is preferred.
Weekend requirements include working every other weekend.
Floating within the scope of practice to meet facility needs will be required, including floating between medical-surgical, ICU, and emergency departments.
Special skills required include the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and the use of rapid response teams.
Patients are diagnosed with cardiac conditions and strokes.
Special equipment includes hoyer lifts.
Charting is done using Epic.
All travelers are required to float as needed.
The unit operates with an interdisciplinary support staff, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries.
Isolation precautions and PPE are essential components of care.
Candidates must possess the ability to manage peripheral line care, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management.
There is no holiday time off allowed and a maximum of 7 days of requested time off is permitted.
All experience should be recent, ideally 1 year.
Modules may be required pre-start and are billable up to 5 hours.
Candidates should be aware that background policies are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
