Compensation & Schedule Details
- Hours & Shift: Day shift (36–40 hours per week). Target start date: October 12, 2026 (firm orientation date).
- Overtime & Differentials: OT/Holiday billable at 1.15x multiplier (OT billable after 40 hours for 36–40 hr contracts; after 48 hours for 48 hr contracts). Call-back at 1.5x multiplier with a 2-hour call-back minimum. On-call pay: $9/hr. Charge/Precept pay: $6/hr.
- Holiday Requirements: Must work 1 to 2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) unless the unit is closed.
- Scheduling Restrictions:No block shifts allowed. Department prefers candidates who can and will extend past the initial 13-week contract.
- Radius & Separation Rules: Strict 50-mile local radius rule (verified via driver's license; no local candidates accepted). Past UnityPoint Health (UPH) employees (FTE, PRN, or UPH float pool) cannot work travel in another market if they worked at a UPH facility within the past 12 months (exempt if previous UPH work was strictly travel). Interviews involve a quick phone call/text from a 405 area code.
Key Facility Policies & Unit Scope
- Multi-Campus Floating: Travelers are required to float across all UnityPoint Health campuses in the region (Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Iowa Methodist Medical Center, and Iowa Methodist West).
- Unit Environment: 24-bed unit. Patient ratios are 4–5:1. Patient types include general Med-Surg care, overflow of post-op surgical hips/knees, and potential overflow psych patients. Telemetry is monitored remotely.
- Dress Code: Solid navy blue scrubs.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 24 months of current Med-Surg / Med-Surg Tele experience required (first-time travelers accepted). Experience with post-op surgical hips/knees required; psych patient care and precepting experience preferred. Charge experience is required.
- Charting:EPIC EMR experience is required.
- Licensure: Active Iowa (IA) RN license or multi-state compact license required at submission (verified via Nursys).
- Documentation & Compliance: Copy of driver's license required at submittal. Professional references/evaluations from within the last 24 months preferred.
- Certifications: AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) BLS required at submittal.
