Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Renal Unit - 4 South) Location: Tuscaloosa, AL Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (36 or 48 Hours/Week) | Every Other Weekend & Holidays as Required Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 08/17/2026 Position Overview The Registered Nurse on the 36-bed Med/Surg Telemetry Renal Unit (4 South) provides specialized, patient-centered care for individuals with acute and chronic kidney disease, including those undergoing renal replacement therapy. Working in a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio environment, the RN collaborates with nephrologists, hospitalists, and family practice providers to manage complex post-hemodialysis care and ongoing peritoneal dialysis protocols. Direct offers are made based on candidate profile, with optional interviews available upon request. Key Responsibilities Renal Care Management: Deliver specialized nursing care for patients with acute and chronic renal failure, focusing on post-hemodialysis monitoring and peritoneal dialysis management. Telemetry & Patient Assessment: Perform continuous cardiac telemetry monitoring, assess fluid balance, and execute individualized care plans. Onboarding Assessment: Successfully pass a Basic Dysrhythmia examination during onboarding (maximum 2 attempts permitted). Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with community nephrologists, hospitalists, and primary care providers to optimize treatment strategies. Floating & Adaptability: Maintain flexibility to float to other Med/Surg units or sister hospital facilities as required. Position Qualifications Mandatory Requirements Licensure: Active Alabama RN License or active Compact/Multi-State RN License (Temporary licenses are not accepted). Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience under highest professional license (will consider 18 months total experience if paired with at least 1 year of specialty renal/telemetry experience). Certifications: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC). Education: Minimum Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree. EHR Proficiency: Experience with Meditech charting system. Contract & Facility Details Cancellation Policy: Facility reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week contract.
