Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry | 16-Week Contract in Columbus, Ohio

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Position: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical Telemetry
- Location: Columbus, Ohio 43210
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Contract Length: 16 weeks
- Schedule: 36 hours per week; three 12-hour shifts
- Shift Duration: 12 hours
- Shift Options: Rotating days and nights, typically 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Setting: On-site, mixed-acuity medical-surgical and telemetry unit
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients with diagnoses ranging from solid tumors to select blood cancers
- Unit Profile: Approximately 48 beds, including medical-surgical telemetry and higher-acuity beds
- Scheduling: Day, night, or rotating assignments may vary according to unit needs; weekend coverage varies
Med/Surg Telemetry Travel RN Requirements
- At least 2 years of current inpatient registered nursing experience
- Recent medical-surgical or telemetry nursing experience required; higher-acuity or oncology experience preferred but not required
- Active Ohio RN license or valid compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
- Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Epic electronic health record charting experience required
- Graduation from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Ability to float to comparable or lower-acuity medical-surgical and telemetry units
- Two professional references required, including at least one supervisor, manager, director, or other formal leader
- Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Chemotherapy experience is not required; candidates interested in expanding their oncology nursing skills may pursue additional training
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a high-acuity medical-surgical telemetry environment
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes in patient condition, escalating concerns promptly
- Care for patients with complex medical oncology conditions, including solid tumors and select hematologic cancers
- Administer medications, blood products, IV therapies, insulin protocols, and other treatments according to established standards
- Manage central lines, PICC lines, ports, peripheral IVs, surgical drains, chest tubes, tracheostomies, PCA pumps, and continuous bladder irrigation
- Use telemetry monitoring systems, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and other unit equipment safely and effectively
- Apply infection prevention, isolation, PPE, and fall-prevention practices consistently
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, radiology, social services, interpretation services, rapid response teams, and other members of the care team
- Document patient assessments, interventions, responses, and care plans accurately in Epic
- Float to other comparable medical-surgical or telemetry units as needed
