Travel Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse (RN) – 16-Week Contract in Columbus, Ohio
Join a high-acuity adult medical-surgical telemetry team in Columbus, Ohio, as a Travel Registered Nurse caring for complex oncology and neurological patients in a collaborative acute-care environment. This 16-week travel nursing assignment offers experienced RNs the opportunity to expand their clinical expertise while providing telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care, drain management, and comprehensive medical-surgical nursing.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040

- Assignment Duration: 16 weeks
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Scheduling: Shift assignments may include nights or a day/night rotation based on unit needs and are reviewed during each scheduling period
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics, including oncology and neuro-oncology patients
- Typical Assignment: Approximately 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Orientation: 72 hours
- Floating: May be required to comparable or lower-acuity medical-surgical and oncology units

Travel Registered Nurse Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in Ohio or an active multistate compact license in hand at the time of submission
- At least 2 years of current acute-care Registered Nurse experience in medical-surgical telemetry, with consistent specialty experience within the past 12 months
- Current Epic electronic health record experience
- Basic Life Support certification required
- Additional credentials such as ACLS, NIHSS, and OCN may be required or preferred based on unit and credentialing requirements
- Clinical experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV starts, tracheostomy care, and suctioning
- Experience caring for patients with oncology, neuro-oncology, head and neck cancer, or brain tumor diagnoses is preferred
- Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Ability to provide two professional references, including at least one reference from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
- Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered
- Availability to complete required credentialing and fingerprinting promptly before the assignment start date
Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a medical-surgical telemetry environment
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in patient condition, and initiate appropriate clinical interventions
- Manage patients with complex oncology and neurological diagnoses, including head and neck cancers, neuro-oncology conditions, and brain tumors
- Perform comprehensive assessments, administer medications, and develop and evaluate individualized plans of care
- Initiate and maintain peripheral IV access and safely manage infusion pumps and other unit equipment
- Provide tracheostomy care, including suctioning, routine maintenance, and inner-cannula changes
- Manage JP drains, Hemovac drains, and other postoperative or specialty drainage systems
- Maintain strong infection-prevention and fall-prevention practices
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Float to comparable or lower-acuity units when needed while maintaining high standards of patient care
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in Epic
