Travel Med-Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology Contract in Columbus, Ohio
Join a rewarding 16-week travel nursing assignment for a Medical-Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse in Columbus, Ohio. Support adult and geriatric patients on a 36-bed medical-surgical oncology and telemetry unit while delivering high-quality acute-care nursing throughout each patient’s cancer journey. You will care for patients from diagnosis and treatment through recovery and end-of-life support while collaborating with a well-rounded interdisciplinary team. Travel RN Job Details

- Contract Duration: 16-week travel nursing contract, through February 22, 2027
- Weekend Coverage: Variable according to unit needs
- Floating: Required to other medical-surgical oncology units

Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a valid compact-state license at the time of submission
- At least 2 years of current acute-care nursing experience, including recent medical-surgical, telemetry, or oncology experience
- Current experience in the specialty within the past 12 months
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Graduation from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Epic or comparable electronic health record charting experience
- Strong telemetry monitoring and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation skills
- Experience with IV therapy, central-line blood draws, blood product administration, isolation precautions, and tracheostomy care
- Oncology nursing experience is preferred but not required
- Oncology Nursing Society chemotherapy certification is preferred
- Two professional references are required, including at least one supervisor, manager, director, or other formal leader
- Flu vaccination is required; medical exemptions may be considered
- Successful completion of required credentialing and Ohio fingerprinting processes
Travel Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult and geriatric patients with solid-tumor cancers and complex medical-surgical needs
- Care for patients with diagnoses including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, as well as patients receiving antineoplastic chemotherapy
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications, blood products, chemotherapy-related treatments, and other therapies within scope of practice and established protocols
- Access and manage ports, maintain central lines, initiate and maintain IVs, and provide tracheostomy care as needed
- Apply infection-prevention practices and fall-reduction strategies consistently
- Complete accurate patient assessments, care planning, medication administration, and nursing documentation in Epic
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other healthcare professionals
- Float to designated medical-surgical oncology units while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
- Support patients and families with compassion throughout treatment, transitions of care, and end-of-life needs
