Experience with adult and geriatric patients. Description: The role involves providing care for acute medical surgical patients, including those with congestive heart failure, infections, cardiac catheterizations, pacemakers, pneumonia, strokes, TIAs, seizures, and UTIs. The nurse will monitor post-care for patients who have undergone cardiac catheterization and pacemaker procedures. Post-care responsibilities include various procedures such as thoracentesis and chest tube management. Experience with cardiac drips and heparin drips is required. Knowledge of dialysis care is also necessary. The average patient ratio is 5:1. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams. Candidates should possess skills in telemetry monitoring and managing dysrhythmias, as well as administer oxygen and manage IV and feeding tubes. Experience in managing patients with seizure disorders and substance withdrawal is necessary. Familiarity with isolation precautions and use of personal protective equipment is required. The nurse will be responsible for wound care management as well.
