Must-Have:
Experience reading basic telemetry strips.
Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients.
Experience with CVA and TIA patients.
Description:
Unit specializes in Surgical and Neuro patients.
The unit has a total of 48 beds and includes two sections.
Staff-to-patient ratios are 1:5.
Common diagnoses include COVID, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal ailments, diabetes, TIA, and CVA.
Patients may also include general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical cases.
Experience in Cerner charting system is recommended, with only one day of unit orientation provided.
Registered Nurses will be required to interpret telemetry strips and sign off at least once per shift.
Telemetry is monitored remotely, and telemetry technicians are assigned to a different floor.
Charge Nurses do not take patient assignments.
There are Nurse Aides available on the unit with a staff-to-patient ratio of 1:10-15.
Equipment includes Bipap, Cpap, high flow oxygen, and various breathing treatments.
Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours, from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
Self-scheduling is used, but must be balanced by management.
Weekend work is required for two weekends per four-week schedule.
For major holidays, staff is expected to work two holidays/two shifts or one holiday shift combined with two evening shifts.
Floating to other departments may be necessary for qualified staff.
Navy blue scrubs are the required attire for this unit.
