Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical Duration: 14 weeks Shift: 12-hour Evening Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips independently. Experience with cardiac drips including Amiodarone and Cardizem. Experience in pre/post cardiac catheterization, including femoral and radial access. Competency in managing chest tubes and non-titrating medications. Description: This position involves providing care for high acuity patients in a cardiac step-down environment. The unit caters to post-procedure cardiac patients, individuals with congestive heart failure, end-stage renal disease, and telemetry monitoring. Patient ratios are typically 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5 at night. Each shift generally has three RNs working, along with shared responsibilities for blood draws and basic care tasks. RNs are expected to effectively manage patient assignments while also overseeing the work of nursing assistants. Support staff, including respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and rehabilitation therapists, are available on a 24/7 basis. Charting is performed using EPIC, and flexible scheduling may involve weekend rotations and holiday coverage. The scrub color is professional attire as per facility guidelines. Candidates should be prepared to engage in team-based care and demonstrate effective communication skills.
