Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Expected 36 hours/week | Three weekends out of every six-week schedule; every other holiday

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to a cardiac renal patient population including post-cardiac procedure patients (heart cath, ablation, pacemaker), A-fib RVR, ESRD, CHF, sepsis, tracheostomies, nephrostomy tubes, CBI, renal biopsy, and behavioral health/detox cases
  • Perform telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG interpretation; travelers will be required to pass telemetry competency tests
  • Manage drip medications including cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone) and other infusions (Heparin, Lasix, Protonix); perform chest tube and indwelling drain management
  • Recover heart catheterization patients using femoral and TR band techniques; perform PIV insertion and central line care
  • Apply CBI and detox/CIWA protocols; demonstrate strong assessment and critical thinking skills throughout all patient interactions
  • Float within skillset to sister campuses as needed, with a minimum of 2 hours notice provided for cross-campus float assignments; may precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility

Required Qualifications

  • Current active RN Compact License required
  • AHA BLS certification required
  • AHA ACLS certification required
  • NIHSS certification required
  • Minimum two years of strong cardiac/telemetry experience; at least one prior travel assignment and Trauma Level II experience required
  • Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
  • Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience with CIWA/detox protocols and behavioral health patient populations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-acuity cardiac patients with complex drip regimens
  • Adaptable, resilient, and able to manage change effectively in a fast-paced unit environment
