General medical/surgical skillset
Ability to care for patients with tubes/drains
IV start skills
Blood product administration
Wound care/dressing changes
Description:
This position is for an RN specializing in MedSurg/Telemetry.
The unit has 34 beds with an average census of 32 plus 3 surge rooms.
The patient population includes medical and some surgical patients.
Common diagnoses include ESRD, CHF, Pneumonia, Sickle Cell Crisis, Diabetes/DKA, and Acute/Chronic Renal Failure.
Starting Spring 2026, the unit will also include Hematology/Oncology patients.
Travelers are not required to have chemotherapy certification and will not administer chemotherapy.
RNs will work with a patient ratio of 1:6 on nights, with a critical surge ratio of 1:7-8.
Support staff includes CNAs who assist with patient care and vital signs.
A charge nurse, phlebotomy services, and a dedicated pharmacist are available 24/7.
The unit has a culture that is welcoming, psychologically safe, and fair.
All travelers are required to be agreeable to floating to other facilities as needed.
Technology used includes EPIC for electronic medical records and Alaris for IV pumps.
Travelers will be compensated for time spent traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift.
