Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience. First-time travelers are accepted. Certifications required include ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. Candidates must be willing to work every other weekend. Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. Guaranteed hours include 36 to 48 hours in one workweek depending on shift configuration. Previous experience with thoracentesis, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CVA, hypoxia, electrolyte imbalances, weakness, hypertension, small bowel obstruction, altered mental status, and renal failure is preferred. Staffing ratios are 1 nurse to 5 or 6 patients during day and night shifts. Unit serves adult and geriatric patients. Daily census averages 24 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Candidates must float to different units as required. Travelers must have 2 supervisor references. Specialty skills may include managing blood products, central lines, and telemetry monitoring. No locals accepted for this position.
